Course in Health Innovation

Pulse is currently planning a health innovation program that will be offered over three sessions and outline how students in health-related disciplines and programs can use innovation to make meaningful changes in their profession. This course will encourage creative thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Overview: The course will start by providing a background of health innovation, what it is, what it means, and examples of health innovation in Canada. Students will then learn more about the basics of innovation, including design thinking, empathy mapping, ideation, prototyping, and pitching. Finally, in groups, students will develop and pitch a solution to a current health-related challenge.

Pulse is currently working towards confirming an innovation related course for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Hackathons

Pulse will host health innovation challenges as an opportunity for students to tackle specific problems. Pulse will provide a problem statement and students will use an innovation framework to introduce novel solutions and an implementation plan.

Pulse is hosting a Sustainable Care hackathon as part of an Interprofessional Education Mini Course on April 1, 2025.
