Are you interested in exploring the market viability of your research? As a researcher in emerging technologies, you may be considering an alternative career path beyond academia. With Lab2Market Discover, you’ll learn a new way of thinking and determine if you have a passion for business.
About this program
This program is run as a virtual workshop and is considered a precursor to the Lab2Market Validate program.Â
Participants come with their expertise and an idea for their venture, or sometimes an established young venture. Participants will explore the opportunities and challenges in entrepreneurship – from the various potential applications of your technology to creating a network in the ecosystem.
Our aim is to transform Canada’s researchers into innovation leaders and entrepreneurs. We look for the brightest minds and help them bridge the knowledge, skills, and resource gap to bring their research to market.
Eligibility
Lab2Market Discover is offered free of cost and is open to graduate students, researchers, and post docs at Canadian universities and colleges. This program is designed for those who are interested in learning about the steps needed to commercialize research and whether entrepreneurship is a path they can or should pursue. With the online readings, work, and interactive webinars, your maximum time commitment is three hours per week.

Offerings
Dal innovates offers L2M Discover in the fall and winter semesters. L2M Discover is a 10-week program, with 1.5 hour online sessions, once a week, and 1.5 hours of self-guided work per week.  Learn more at: lab2market.ca/discover.Â
Applications for Lab2Market Discover Winter 2026 are open.
Eligibility: Current graduate students and fourth-year undergraduate students who are conducting research and enrolled at a Canadian university or college. Post-doctoral and clinical fellows affiliated with any Canadian university or college. Faculty, clinicians, and researchers affiliated with any Canadian academic institution or hospital. This program will be delivered by University of Toronto and TRANSFORM HF.
Program Dates: February 10th – April 14th
Program runs: Tuesdays, 2:00 – 3:30 pm AT (1:00 – 2:30 PM ET)
Application deadline: January 21st, 2026, 11:59 PM ET
Eligibility: Graduate researchers (Masters, PhD and Postdoc) and recent grads from universities and colleges across Canada. This program will be delivered by Lab2Market and the Canadian Black Scientists Network (CBSN).
Program dates: Feb. 10 – April 14, 2026
Program runs: Tuesdays, 2:00 – 3:30 pm AT (1:00 – 2:30 PM ET)
Application deadline: January 30th, 2026
Eligibility: Graduate researchers (Masters, PhD and Postdoc) and recent grads from universities and colleges across Canada. This program will be delivered by Lab2Market and S4FC.
