Dal Innovation Week welcomes curious minds and big ideas

Dal Innovation Week

Dal’s second-annual Innovation Week ignites this week, bringing nine days of bold ideas and boundary-pushing events to Halifax.

The week kicks off Sept. 18 and runs through to Sept. 25, offering a range of opportunities for innovators eager to get engaged in the action. There are pitch competitions, workshops, open house events, facility tours, and more.

“This is your opportunity to engage with the people and projects shaping the future — right here at Dal,” says Dr. Christopher McMaster (shown right), scientific director of the CIHR’s Institute of Genetics.

Dr. McMaster is also the founder of two biotech companies, DenNovaMed Inc. and Haligene, and will lead a session called Innovation Rx on how tech is transforming health care.

“Whether you’re a student, researcher, entrepreneur, or simply someone who loves to explore new ideas, there’s something for you,” adds Dr. McMaster.

About Dalhousie University

Dalhousie University is Atlantic Canada’s leading research-intensive university. Located in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, with an agricultural campus in Truro/Bible Hill, Dalhousie is a truly national and international university, with more than half of the university’s 20,000-plus students coming from outside the province. Dal’s 6,000 faculty and staff foster a diverse, purpose-driven community, one that spans 13 faculties and conducts more than $250 million in research annually. Our researchers have global impact—whether it’s as an international leader in ocean and environmental science helping to fight climate change, through research commercialization that contributes to our regional and national economies, by influencing policies that advance equity and civil society, or health discoveries that improve our wellbeing and longevity.
