Meet the researchers tackling global challenges through cutting-edge work in ocean science, climate solutions, cancer treatments, clean technology, and policy that’s impacting everything from environmental law to the care of childhood pain, and so much more.
The Centres and Institutes Open House will be on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
A unique opportunity to discover groundbreaking ideas, experience new innovations, and connect with leading researchers from the following centres and institutes:
- Atlantic Institute for Digital Agriculture – Advances sustainable food production through precision agriculture, robotics, artificial intelligence, and data-driven technologies.
- Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute – Brings together researchers, clinicians, trainees, patients, and partners to advance cancer prevention, treatment, survivorship, and cures.
- Brain Repair Centre: A world-class neuroscience research institute focused on reversing illness and injuries to the brain and nervous system.
- Centre for Global Mental Health – Promotes mental health equity worldwide through research, education, advocacy, and partnerships that improve access to high-quality mental health services.
- Centre for the Study of Security and Development – A multidisciplinary network of scholars exploring the complex links between security, development, conflict, governance, and global challenges.
- Centre for Transformative Nursing and Health Research – Conducts collaborative, nursing-led research focused on improving health outcomes, health equity, health systems, and knowledge translation.
- Health Justice Institute – Advances health law and policy through interdisciplinary research, education, and public engagement aimed at improving health and well-being.
- Law and Technology Institute – Promotes research, education, and leadership on the legal, policy, and ethical challenges created by existing and emerging technologies.
- MacEachen Institute for Public Policy and Governance – A non-partisan public policy institute that supports evidence-based research, public dialogue, and citizen engagement on issues of national and regional importance.
- Marine and Environmental Law Institute – An internationally recognized centre for research, teaching, and policy development in marine, environmental, and ocean law.
- MicroResearch Institute – Empowers local communities to identify and solve their own health and social challenges through community-led research training, mentorship, and support.
- Myers Hutchings Centre of Excellence in Fisheries Science – Enhances fisheries management through advanced fisheries research, innovative assessment tools, collaborative partnerships, and training for future fisheries scientists.
- Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP) – A national network that improves children’s pain management by mobilizing evidence-based solutions through collaboration with families, health professionals, and healthcare organizations.
